about

The song “Dweeb” came about with a guitar line that eventually became the bassline over a drum machine pattern. There’s an early, slower demo of this song that’s a little more electro-pop, dark and moody.

When we re-recorded “Dweeb” in its current form, it came out a lot more rocking and uptempo, and Dean really pulled it together with his drumming chops. Our old bandmate Jessica Freeman did some great guitar work on it, and the backing vocals by Chanda and Nicole took it to a prettier place.

The final version has gotten some airplay on the KROQ Locals Only radio show, which we’ve been thrilled about. Our producer, Josiah Mazzaschi, worked really hard to get the mix and drum sounds sounding nifty, and was super patient with us while we experimented with a lot of little production touches.

lyrics

Get on
and waste the dreams that doom
your nights
and mine

it's all
for you
we're all
so doomed

all us seek to never hurt
the sunshine
in ways so clever masterful
as you try
sense the hurt you tempt to hold
the air supply
that we once shared
is gone

it's all
for you
we're all
so doomed

about

Modern Time Machines Los Angeles, California

MTM’s haunting, bittersweet melodies recall elements of dream pop, new wave, and space rock, with “nuanced playing and killer hooks” (LA Times).

The band's music has been heard from the radio airwaves of LA’s KROQ 106.7FM to nationally on The Eric Andre Show.

An upcoming MTM songwriting collaboration with the late Grammy-winning songwriting legend Allee Willis is on the horizon - stay tuned.
